Most excellent dining experience. The owner was incredible, out on the floor making sure all guests had the best experience possible. She was happy to creatively accommodate gluten free and mocktails and suggest the best of what she had to offer. The decor is cozy and creative, and a wonderful atmosphere and friendly staff all around. Thank you 🙏🏻
Let's get the bad out of the way first; the parking situation (on a Friday night) was an absolute nightmare. Do not park at the diner across the street - they tow. Next - have a reservation (OpenTable). You'll probably need it. That said - the food and drink were all incredible! We had the Romanian Chicharrons for an app, the Hungarian paprikash, Beef Goulash and the Chocolate chip lava cake. Not a single weak link among the bunch. The atmosphere was fun, especially for Halloween time. The service was friendly and attentive. Prices were absolutely reasonable. No doubt we'll be back! 🧛🏽♂️
I had been meaning to try this place for a while, finally I did. The food was great as were the drinks. Service was excellent. The decor was monster fun and they have regular events including monster bingo and trivia and special events. I will be back, fun for monsters of all ages!
I highly recommend visiting this restaurant! Authentic Hungarian dishes were a welcome change from your typical fare. The food was good, but the desserts were on another level! The chocolate chip lava cake is to die for!
Quite the scene. Our first time, felt like everyone there were regulars, but 🤷♀️. Great decorations, every detail. Even meech for purpose. I think there was a magician walking around! Certainly a fun lively atmosphere... saw two birthday celebrations just at tables next to us! Loud! Everyone got the flaming dessert lol. The meat eaters liked their burgers, sausage etc. But not much healthy/veg entrees. I liked the eggplant 🍆 sandwich but it was very fried, so ... Only thing was waitress asked if we wanted more drinks like 10 times! Take a hint, don't push!
Hidden gem in a seasonal disguise! We went because we are Halloween buffs but found the food to be the best part. Everything made by hand (except the onion rings) we were told so we decided to start with the Romanian Meatballs as an appetizer and wished we could of made a meal of just those, they were served with 1000 Island dressing and kraut which only enhanced the flavor because they were amazing alone! We then decided to try outside our comfort food zone and had Weiner Snitchzel and Stuffed Cabbage-absolutely amazing the flavors so bold and delicious-we both had Black Cherry margaritas (OMG) to pair with our entrees. Dessert-well we had to make room and glad we did because if you dont get Vlad the Impaler-you would be missing out!! Great server, she was super attentive and the owner was on site asking how everything was so we got to tell her in person. We made a reservation but they got us in sooner but if you do go during Halloween season I would advise it. Merch and props so much fun, they have it all. Highly recommended by 2 normal HALLOWEEN enthusiasts who stumbled on the best authentic Romanian food and left happier then we arrived !
If you're looking for a unique dining experience no doubt this will fit the bill. The owners originally had a small takeout cafe location but we're looking to expand to a full restaurant with bar atmosphere to bring the Romanian Hungarian motif full circle. The Old Mill serves as a great backdrop to Eastern European comfort food. Entertainment no doubt the atmosphere alone. Food portions awesome and a pretty wide selection You don't have to go with ethnic gastro there's many choices on the menu. Service excellent for a large party of 13 they handled it quite well.
My husband and I went to Transylvania Restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. From the moment we got there it was a great time. The decor and atmosphere were fun and inviting. The staff were friendly and engaging. The food and drinks were delicious with gluten free options. We were told from the beginning that it may take longer than usual for our food since everything is freshly made. It was well worth the few extra minutes. The staff was attentive and checked in with us appropriately. We had the stuffed mushrooms, beef brisket, Hungarian stew and papnasi with an old fashioned and Dracula blood punch. Amazing!! We will be back.
This was the first time; my son, his father, and I for Father's Day 💐. It did not disappoint! The server named Elisa was amazing, very nice, attentive, and thoughtful. The ambiance was very Halloweeney, dark but classic, and a bunch of horror movie memorabilia! Any horror movie or scary movie buff would love this place. The titles for food and movie was cute. 100/10 would definitely recommend this place and we're definitely coming back to try more of the Romania cuisine.
OmG everything is so delicious 😋. Edit: Everything last night was so amazing from the atmosphere, to the food to the staff. Julie was so helpful and patient. She asked if anyone had any allergies *which is a first for me I've been to high end places and dive places and everything in between* I have never met a nicer server or anyone that ever asked. I was unable to finish my meal so I took it home with me hence why I am editing my review. Now some places I have been to when you take the left overs home they don't taste the same the next day. Well that is NOT the case here. Everything still taste as GREAT as it did last night. This is my new favorite spot. My friend said the wings were the BEST he ever had. The chocolate chip lava cake was delicious. Everything from the Fried basket with the garlic aioli *absolutely LOVED it* to the NY Strip surf and turf with truffle fries to the drink *it was a strawberry lemonade I think the kid sitting at the table next to us had it and it looked so good so I had to try it 😋*, to the dessert Everything was DELICIOUS. Definitely a place to try. Transilvania is more Farm to Table rather than frozen food to table. You can truly taste the freshness and the difference.
